Pancreatic cancer is a disease in which cancer cells form in the tissues of the pancreas. This type of cancer is the 4th-leading cause of cancer-related fatalities in the US.
Risk factors for pancreatic cancer include - Helicobacter pylori infection, chronic pancreatitis, diabetes, stomach ulcer, and smoking tobacco.
Because there are not many noticeable symptoms early on, experts frequently say that pancreatic cancer is a silent disease. However, as cancer grows, signs and symptoms of pancreatic cancer may include:
#1 Elevated Blood Sugar Levels - some people with pancreatic cancer develop type 2 diabetes as cancer impairs the pancreas' capacity to produce insulin.
#2 Nausea - it can happen during later stages, especially if a pancreatic tumor has grown large enough to block a portion of the digestive tract.
#3 Bloating - some patients with pancreatic cancer have an uncomfortable swelling in the abdomen or a sense of early fullness with meals.
#4 Difficulty Swallowing - if the pancreas is not working correctly due to cancer, it can cause problems with digestion.
#5 Pain In The Upper Abdomen - this pain is significant and can be persistent but also intermittent. Also, it can vary between patients.
#6 Yellowing Of The Whites Of The Eyes And Skin - jaundice is more common with cancer of the head of the pancreas since the tumor blocks the bile duct.
#7 Blood Clots - cancer causes changes in the blood which can increase the likelihood of forming clots.
#8 Unexplained Weight Loss - this happens because the pancreas plays an essential role in digesting food and the food is not properly digested, that can lead to weight loss.
#9 Poor Appetite.
#10 Floating Stools - it occurs due to the fact that the body is not digesting fats well.
